Ryan Reynolds is the fatherhood guru we all deserve. After witnessing his wife Blake Lively give birth to their two children, the hunky actor is by all accounts a pro in the delivery room, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t made some mistakes along the way—mistakes that all new fathers can learn from.
With his characteristic charm and deadpan delivery (pun intended), Reynolds offered GQ some essential advice for new dads when they find themselves experiencing the miracle of life first hand. See his hilarious tips below:
- “Be in the room, you’re not Don Draper.”
- “Be judicious with your photo-taking, a picture of your daughter crowning on the refrigerator isn’t helping anyone.”
- “Your wife will pretty much never think it’s funny or charming if you tip your imaginary top hat and say ‘at your cervix.’ Don’t do that.”
- “You, the father, really want to realize you’re the least important thing in the room. It’s gonna go your wife, your baby, the doctor, the nurse, a doula if you have one, the air…”
Not bad advice!
